Ranginui's Retreat, Aitutaki accommodation is locally owned and is Tourism Cook Islands Accredited.
Ranginui's Retreat Aitutaki accommodation is comprised of 8 self catering beachfront bungalows sleeping a maximum of 3 Adults each. Each bungalow accommodation offers ensuite bathroom with hot and cold water, in room fans kitchenette with fridge, microwave, cook top, utensils, rain water fountain and tea / coffee facilities.
These Aitutaki accommodation are located on the southern tip of the east side of the main island of Aitutaki on the gateway to the lagoon. Great swimming, kayaking and snorkelling available from these Aitutaki accommodation.
Enjoy our fresh water swimming pool with views overlooking the Aitutaki lagoon. We also have a shop on site selling groceries, cool drinks and souvenirs.
Next door is the Samade Bar and restaurant, the Koru cafe is just 100 meters away and has a great breakfast and lunch seven days a week, around the corner is the boat shed restaurant, known for its views and seafood delights.. Other restaurants are only a few minutes away by scooter.
Scooter and car hire is available on-site at very reasonable rates to our guests.
We can arrange Aitutaki Lagoon Cruises, Island Tours, Dining, Scuba Diving, Fishing, Island dance shows, and transport if required.
Ranginui's Retreat is located on Ootu Beach, at the southern tip of the peninsula on the main island of Aitutaki. This quiet part of Aitutaki, on a sandy dead-end road, is one of the popular picnic spots amongst locals with its excellent swimming beach and prime jumping off point to the local motu's (islets.)
Ootu Beach is the gateway to the lagoon, Aitutaki's most spectacular tourist attraction. lagoon cruises to the tiny uninhabited islands and crystal clear lagoon depart right from our doorstep.
We are two minutes by road to the airport, ten minutes into Arutunga Town and there are several restuarants within two minutes stroll from our property.
Ranginui's Retreat is fast becoming known as the kick off point for kiteboarding on the Aitutaki Lagoon, you can literally start from our beach and work your way out to the sand bars where the wind tunnels in from the the open Pacific. Kiteboarders can also catch a ride down the lagoon to one of the other motu's for a day kiteboarding. Want a transfer to one of the motus for a day of kiteboarding? Our onsite activities facilatator Wet & Wild will get you there in style.

Aitutaki Island and its magnificent Lagoon is the second most visited island in the Cook Islands. The main island of Rarotonga, location of the international airport, is a 45-minute flight.
Aitutaki is referred to as (The lagoon of the South Pacific)- Aitutaki's highest point is only 124 metres (Mt Maungapu). The Aitutaki lagoon with its triangular shape is 12 km wide by 15km long and has an amazing array of turquoise colours and tropical fish making it a popular destination for day cruises and snorkelling.
The Aitutaki lagoon is rimmed by a protective barrier reef and 16 small uninhabited motus (islets). Aitutaki has a population of just under 2000, the majority living a subsistence lifestyle of fishing and farming with tourism being at the heart of the economy.
Air Rarotonga is the only internal airline with 4-5 daily flights from Rarotonga (international airport) to Aitutaki and back.
There is 1 flight on Sunday evening.
A visitor permit for 31 days is granted to all non-Nationals on arrival at Rarotonga airport (presentation of a valid passport for at least six months beyond the intended period of stay and a ticket for return or onward travel is required). Visas can be extended for up to six months at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration in Rarotonga. Departure Tax = NZ$30 or NZ$15 under 12 years, infants free.

There are two ATM machines, and three banks on Aitutaki (ANZ, BCI, & Westpac)
Westpac is now open five days a week.

Electricity = 240v / 40Hz (same voltage as UK, Aus & NZ) with plugs being three flat pins (same as NZ). US Visitors will require a convertor.
